{"id":81,"date":"2015-03-16T11:33:37","date_gmt":"2015-03-16T11:33:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fundforhumanneed.org.uk\/?page_id=81"},"modified":"2026-03-25T10:35:41","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T10:35:41","slug":"apply-now","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/fundforhumanneed.org.uk\/?page_id=81","title":{"rendered":"Applying For A Payment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Our Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We make once only relief payments usually to a maximum of \u00a3120.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Our Priorities<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Priority is given to those:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5><strong>who are destitute or have no income or benefits<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<li>who are particularly vulnerable<\/li>\n<li>where amounts up to \u00a3120 will make a major difference<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Grants are NOT made<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to cover debt<\/li>\n<li>to pay scholarships, university or college fees<\/li>\n<li>to individuals living outside the United Kingdom<\/li>\n<li>to projects run by other charities, except for one small project in another part of the world from funds raised specifically for that project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WHO MAY APPLY?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Anyone in the <strong>United Kingdom<\/strong> who is destitute and desperate, irrespective of faith, ethnic origin or social group, can apply to the fund.<strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Individuals may apply to the Fund for Human Need for assistance, but it is desirable that whenever possible applications are made through a recognised organisation such as a registered charity, church, community group, housing association or NHS trust.<\/p>\n<p>When a personal application is made, we may ask for a copy of identity documentation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT INFORMATION IS NEEDED?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Details of <strong>income<\/strong> (including wages, benefits or other support) and <strong>outgoings<\/strong> (housing, food and clothing, travel and other expenses) and how a payment would make a difference should one be provided.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HOW IS HELP GIVEN? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Normally payment is made by bank transfer.\u00a0 The payee (the organisation or person to whom the award is payable) <strong>must<\/strong> hold a standard UK bank account.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The name of the account should be clearly given.<\/span> <strong>Organisations<\/strong> are asked to submit a maximum of\u00a0<strong>two applications per month<\/strong> and to note the details required and the priorities stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Most payments are made through a registered organisation.\u00a0 Some personal applicants may not have a bank account and will need to nominate an organisation or person who receive\u00a0an award.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>CAN AN ASYLUM SEEKER \/ IMMIGRANT APPLY? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Asylum seekers or those still in the immigration process <strong>must<\/strong> apply through a recognised organisation (such as a registered charity, church, community group, housing association or NHS trust) which is <strong><em>able to receive the payment and organise any purchases on behalf of the applicant.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Asylum seekers and organisations should be aware that if a direct payment is made to the asylum seeker the Government can deduct it from relief payments. It may also affect any claim they make \/ are making for asylum relief.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>WHEN ARE PAYMENTS MADE? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">We aim to respond to applications within a month or less. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong>The meeting at which payments are allocated is normally held towards the end of each month and awards ditributed on\/ around the 1st of the following month.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Where even a small delay will obviously cause additional distress we try to reply within 7 days. <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">We reply to everyone who applies as soon as possible after each awards meeting, either by email or letter.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Apply Now<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The application form can be downloaded here as a <a href=\"https:\/\/fundforhumanneed.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Application-form-September-2020.docx\">Word Document<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/fundforhumanneed.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Application-form-September-2020.pdf\">PDF<\/a>. \u00a0The form can be sent by post or email to the administrator at <a href=\"mailto:fhn.apply@gmail.com\">fhn.apply@gmail.com<\/a>\u00a0 Postal Address: 6 Newlands Road, Darlington, Co Durham, DL3 9JL (Other information or help from:\u00a0 Administrator, Mrs G Mason.
